Bratislava to do's

Bratislava to do’s? Maybe Bratislava is not the first destination you think about when organising a city trip. But I can tell you: GO! It’s so worth it, it’s cheap, it’s not yet overrun by tourists and there’s loads of good restaurants, bars and coffeeshops.

I’ll highlight the 12 Bratislava to do’s in terms of food locations & other hotspots below!

#1 – Old Fashioned

Like the name might already suspect, it’s a super súper nice cocktailbar!

I’ve had one of the best ginger infused bourbons ever (called: Ullei #2 -> it’s their signature drink). It can get really busy on weekendnights, so be on time to have a spot! Ah and prices aren’t Slovakia cheap :|.

#2 – Urban House

This one will show up in every list of restaurants which are ‘musts in Bratislava to do lists’. Being so hyped, one might get disappointed. This one (me), was in fact disappointed. But I’m a snob, so if you’re fun and openminded and don’t mind small portions for too much money, go here! Haha, no I’m being too mean now, it’s oke, the interior is really cool and apparently their Eggs Benedict for breakfast are a banger. Just don’t expect too much of the evening menu.

#3 – Bistro St. Germain

Very cute place with loads of books. Food was pretty standard, not super amazingly good, but also not too bad. Staff was mega unfriendly and that’s an understatement. Big chance they changed their staff by now, so don’t let that stop you from going!

#4 – Sun Deck

Azian style kitchen, really good bao buns and great ambiance. A restaurant/ chill place on the water, what more do you want? We spend here the whole afternoon drinking Aperol Spritz, it was at that moment when I thought to myself ‘Life could be worse’.

They also throw parties! Check their socials for more info.

Small side note, this place is again not very cheap.

#5 – Dunajský Pivovar

Tip from a local! We’re staying on the boat locations here (‘cauze we fancy ‘n all that). Anyway, this is place has their own brewed beer, holds more locals and is quite affordable! Definietly a topper in Bratislava to do list!

It’s also a botel and they have cool parties (from what I’ve heard).

#6 – Bratislava Flagship Restaurant

Typical Slovakian food, contains a lot of bacon, goat cheese, meat, cheese, some bacon and cheese. Ok, so the food isn’t like the French cuisine… However, it’s fun to sit here and enjoy the ambiance. If you’re lucky you can sit outside with good weather and secretly watch all the people in the street.

Other places to go

What else is there in Bratislava to do? It has a few must sees when talking about sightseeing spots. I would recommend visiting the castle, walk through the city center and find other weird statues like these men climbing out of the streets (see pictures below). Oh, there’s also cool musea like the Bratislava City Museum. Visit the Cathedral or walk around the art nouveau area. This Art Nouveau suburb is on the edge of the city, between Grösslingova and Dostojevského Rad with the St. Elizabeth church as heavenly blue central point.
